COMING UP SUNDAY-MAY 4

Baptisms will be held on June 8-the feast of Pentecost. This Sunday, after worship, there will be a discussion of baptism preparation for all who are interested. 

Last Sunday many members of the community joined with St. Thomas' to learn about the Witness Stones project. The next event is a walk to the cemetery of the Rev. Daniel Davis.It is scheduled for Saturday, May 10 from 1-3pm. If you would like to join in, register here.

This Sunday,  from 2:30-4:30, there is a special event at St. Thomas' to learn about the life of the Rev. Daniel Davis who preached at our church in the late 1800's. He was a formerly enslaved man who came to live in Alton. He and his wife are in this photo.  This event is sponsored by St. Thomas', the Richmond RI Historical Society and the Witness Stones Project. All are welcome!

HOLY WEEK

 The week between Palm Sunday and Easter in known as Holy Week. Many churches have worship services each day.
At St. Thomas', we will have a service on Good Friday at 12 noon. 
On Easter Sunday, there is the usual 9 am service, followed by coffee hour and an Easter egg hunt.

APR. 13 IS PALM SUNDAY

St. Thomas' is partnering with the Richmond, RI Historical Society and the Witness Stones Project to highlight the life of the Rev. Daniel Davis. Elder Davis was a formerly enslaved man who escaped from Maryland and came to live in Richmond. He was an itinerant preacher who sometimes preached at our church.  As part of this project, there are 3 events that are scheduled this spring. Read about them here.

During coffee hour this week, there will be video and discussion on the topic of, "Biblical Fracking." This is a type of Bible study that uncovers hidden themes in Scripture. All are welcome. It will meet from 10-11am.

During coffee hour this week, there will be a discussion about, "How to lead Morning Prayer.If there is ever a Sunday when a priest is not available to lead worship, any member of the church can lead Morning Prayer.  It is easy!  Come join in!
Thanks to everyone who contributed to the the Souper Bowl of Caring last Sunday!  We collected $45, plus 12 items for RICAN and 146 items that were used to prepare the February WARM Center meal. 
Ash Wednesday is Mar. 5. There will be a 10 am service that includes Holy Eucharist and the imposition of ashes. All are welcome.

The Souper Bowl of Caring has been rescheduled to this Sunday! On Super Bowl SundayAmericans spent over $16.5 billion on food, drinks and partying for Super Bowl events. As a way of helping those who are hungry and homeless in our nation, we ask very person to donate $1 this week and put it into the soup pot. Or bring a food item. Our donations will be given to Rhode Island Center Assisting Those in Need.
On Sunday, Mar. 2, there will be a special coffee hour discussion about how to lead a Morning Prayer service. It would be great to have a big crowd for this session!

COMING UP SUNDAY-FEB.2

This Sunday is a special day in the church calendar known as The Feast of the Presentation of Our Lord. It marks the day when the parents of Jesus presented the infant at the Temple. It is also known as Candlemass and Groundhog Day. Read how those things are connected here.

Next Sunday, Feb. 9 is the Souper Bowl of Caringn 2024, Americans spent almost $14 billion on food and drinks during the Super Bowl. The Souper Bowl of Caring supports agencies around the country that are helping those who are hungry. Read about it hereHelp us in this effort. On Super Bowl Sunday, bring $1 or 1 food item to church that day. Our donations will go to RICAN.

Feb. 2. is also a special feast day in the church calendar. It is called the Presentation or Candlemas. It falls 40 days after Christmas and is the day that Jesus was presented in the Temple. It is also Groundhog Day!  Read all about it here

During the month of December, we collected items for our friends at the WARM Center The donation included 1 set of gloves, 1 pair of slippers, 6 T-shirts and 91 pairs of socks! Thanks to everyone who contributed!
