St. Thomas' is part of The Episcopal Church The current Presiding Bishop of church is The Most Rev. Michael B. Curry. The national church is divided into dioceses, and St. Thomas' is a parish in the Episcopal Diocese of Rhode Island. The Rt. Rev. Nicholas Knisely is the bishop of this diocese. It is customary for the bishop to visit our parish every third year. For more information about our diocese, click here.
Our parish is also part of the Narragansett Deanery. This deanery is made up of 12 Episcopal churches located in southwestern Rhode Island. The deanery clergy meet on a regular basis to discuss diocesan issues and to provide mutual support. The deanery has some financial resources and uses its money for local and international projects.
Episcopal Charities of Rhode Island is the funding agency for social service programs supported by the diocese.
