A special date in history- September 16, 2011 marked the 35th anniversary of the day that the General Convention of the Episcopal Church voted to approve the ordination of women. Today about 20% of the clergy in our denomination are women and there are 12 female bishops- including our Presiding Bishop. (Actually there were 11 women who were irregularly ordained in the Episcopal Church in July 1974. Their ordination was "regularized in 1977)
