COMING UP SUNDAY- SEPT. 6

This is the 15th Sunday after Pentecost (Proper 18). Worship is at 9am and coffee hour follows. Church school will begin on September 20. Tuesday Tutoring will begin on Oct.6. Next Saturday, Sept. 12, the Episcopal Diocese of RI will be one of the sponsors at Waterfire, Providence. For more information, visit the diocesan home page
Next Sunday, Sept 13., Mr. Mike Reeves will be at coffee hour to discuss his work with homeless adolescents. If you know of any young people ages 14-19 who do not have a permanent home, please come and share your story with him that morning.

During the Easter Season, some of our church members are reading the Book of Psalms (also called The Psalter). There are 150 psalms and you can go at your own pace. Some are short and some are long. If you finish before the season ends, just start over, or reread some of your favorites. The season goes for 50 days from April 1 until May 19 which is the Feast of Pentecost. You can find the psalms in any Bible or in the Book of Common Prayer or online. Send us a message if you are reading along!

PRAYER FOR ST. THOMAS CHURCH

Almighty God, we give you thanks for our church that has been faithful to your Gospel for many generations. We are grateful for all those who have ministered to the village of Alton and beyond. Strengthen us as we focus our lives on serving you. Encourage us as we continue to be a beacon of love in the world. Guide us when we face challenges and questions. May your Holy Spirit fill us with joy, courage and anticipation as we discover what you are calling us to do in this new age. All this we ask in the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.
