This is the 3rd Sunday of Advent. This week is also known as Gaudete Sunday. The word Gaudete is Latin and it means rejoice. The 2nd lesson for this Sunday is taken from Philippians 4:4 and it begins, "Rejoice in the Lord always." On this Sunday, we light the pink candle on the Advent wreath. Church school will meet this week and there will be a Bishop's Committee meeting after church.
This is the Sunday that Christmas gifts will be collected for a local family in need.
